This season Fendi stole my heart. In fact Fendi’s been steeling my heart for a while now. But who wouldn’t fall in love with the idea of a futuristic Marie Antoinette the original rococo muse? The entire collection drew inspiration from several decades, experimenting with pastels, lightness, elaborate detail, and ornamentation – fun and flirtatious. I mean organza blouses with scalloped edges, gilded fabrics, florals, detailed embroidery, 20’s inspired lingerie silks worn with beautiful backless pinafores (Ohhhh, the pinafores!) utilitarian stripes, an excess of ribbons – Playful and coquettish yet feminine and elegant throughout – exactly the girl I’d like to be come Spring 2017 – actually exactly the girl I’d like to be most days.
But as always it was the accessories that had me dreaming, all of the things that I had lusted after in previous seasons had been expanded on 10 fold. Candy coloured and embroidered bags with chunky whipstitching, far more elaborate guitar straps in a variety of patterns and floral appliques in the form of leather rosettes. Woven ribbons, heavy chains, and small initial charms lined in brightly coloured fur. The Fendi accessory is all about excess, excess, excess next season, and I couldn’t have loved it more.
P.S How cute is the new pineapple fur fob? – and floral ribbons tied round handles and shoulder straps, I can’t wait to copy this look.
Do you feel it? The Fendi love.
